Hamilton realisation for 2nd stop.

If any one wasn’t watching the Grand Prix in Australia on Sunday then you missed the terrible time for Lewis Hamilton as his hopes of reaching 2nd place were dashed. Whilst near the end of the race, Hamilton was asked via radio to pull in for a 2nd pitstop, being in 3rd place he was confused as to why he was asked to pull in, but it was due to the racing cars tyres.
“The team has explained to me their reasoning behind the second pit stop and I can understand what they were trying to do in trying to cover both Mark Webber and Nico Rosberg for later in the race,” Hamilton explains.
“We are still learning about this year’s
tyres and the degradation, and perhaps we overestimated the wear that the frontrunners were expecting to suffer.”
And if that wasn’t bad enough Hamilton also got his back end caught by Webber and they both spun off but managing to drive back off again and Hamilton’s final place was 6
th.

Michelin produce new light tyre with extra goods.

There is now a new brand of tyre produced by Michelin and it has been formally named ‘Wild Race’R’.

Designed to hold high performance and puncture resistance, it also has a thick tread to keep safe when hitting bad weather condition that affect the roads as well as driving over muddy or uneven ones.

The tyres don’t weigh very much, at a shocking 200g even though they hold an enlarged amount of air as well as the puncture resistant layer.

Pirelli sponsor Rockstar Nationals 2010

The official sponsor for Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals in 2010 is Pirelli.

The motorcycle tyre company will be visible throughout the Nationals and they will also have the opportunity to be the sponsor for the championships of the 19 and unders.

“WEM is delighted to have such a premium brand as Pirelli as our official Tyre and naming Sponsor to the Under 19`s Championship” says Kevin Williams, Rockstar MX Nationals promotions manager.

“Pirelli has more than 50 world motocross championships to its name and we will see the Australian championship added as this program continues. This sponsorship from Link International further shows there commitment to developing the youth in this country.”

Dunlop iPhone/Blackberry Application

The tyre manufacturers Dunlop have been working on producing an Application for the Apple iPhone and also the Blackberry and its now here. The application or the App as it is also known as lets users look for tyres which are suitable for their own car just by searching for their car model. The highlight is that it also allows information on whats good about the tyre such as its features.

Dunlop explained that it gives the customer all the information that is available on the main website, but easier to use and basic viewing which is intended for smaller screens such as mobiles.

Kate Rock from Dunlop said: “Dunlop’s philosophy is to give consumers the drive of their life making sure that their experience behind the wheel becomes more tactile, thrilling and intense, providing vital information which makes all the difference to the journey.”

Pirelli Tyres Factory

Pirelli tyres have decided that the plans they had to purchase another tyre plant based in Russia and have re thought their plans to continue building a new factory.

Pirelli Tyre SEO Francesco Gori has said “The company has not yet decided where it will build the plant or what capacity the unit will have”.

They have been browsing recently in Russia for a place but have stopped chasing any ready built positions, to construct their own building.

There are no further details at present.
