Summer approaches watch tyre pressure.

The weather this year has been so nice that we keep forgetting to look after some high priority things.
Such as checking your tyre pressure on your car?
When it comes to this time of year you have to check your tyre pressure like when you do in the winter.
Different weather conditions can affect tyres in various ways, like in winter when it is wet/icy/snowy then you sometimes have to let your tyres down a little bit to get more grip on the road which means relieving tyre pressure.
In the summer you have to check that your tyre pressure isn’t over or under inflated as if it is under inflated there can be excess heat in the tyre which can cause a blow out.
So hopefully after reading this you will go and check your tyre pressure and check in your log book what each tyre is meant to be.

Goodyear Tyres are Supporting the Troops!

It was said yesterday that Goodyear Tyres are backing the troops, and have donated a generous £13,500 to the personnel and the families of the troops but will benefit them.
The Goodyear Eagle tyres which are being produced will be a special edition tyre that will have a red, blue and white design and will also read ‘Support Our Troops’ on the side of the tyre.
Kris Kienzl one of Goodyears marketing manager has said “For well over 100 years, Goodyearhas been supplying and supporting the US military, and has been a part of NASCAR’s great history for more than 56 years. Now, we’re making this historic change to honour them both”.
“We are showing our support for the uniformed men and women who protect us and our families with a special message on the premier spot on our race tyres. This programme also waves the green flag on our fundraising and support campaign.”

Tyre Markings Explained

At first glance the lettering on the side of the tyre may look complicated.
It is not meant to be that way. The lettering explains the exact specification of the tyre you have.
In short it tells you anything that you may need to know about your tyre.
From the diagram  we will try to break down what the codes and numbers really mean.
The codes on the  tyre, will be different on every tyre, due to a few main factors; the tyre width, tyre profile, tyre size and the speed rating.
